A message submitted by reference is not the creative you previewed.

Answer A message submitted by reference is not the creative you previewed. RFC 4468 describes the submission BURL extension, which lets a client submit a message by pointing at a copy. The submitted copy may not be the preview. The document is RFC 4468, titled Message Submission BURL Extension. That is a fact about mail software. It is not a solo ad price, a rank, or proof that a stranger opted in.

The preview is not the submission.

The note that started this: RFC 4468, Message Submission BURL Extension, RFC 4468.

A rented send is one letter to someone else's list. The letter you are shown on a screen can be a preview. The letter that actually goes can be a copy the client submits by pointing at it. Those can be different objects. If you approve the preview and never see the pointed-at copy, you approved the wrong thing. Ask whether submission points at a copy. If it does, the copy is the creative that matters.

A page about solo ad pricing does not tell you which object will be submitted. RFC 4468 does not set a price. Do not pay a preview price for a send path that submits something else, and do not let a seller treat the preview as close enough. Close enough is how the offer changes without a new approval. Name the list, the sending domain, and the refund line, and name which copy those words apply to.

Is a message submitted by reference the preview?

Not necessarily. RFC 4468 describes the submission BURL extension, which lets a client submit a message by pointing at a copy. The submitted copy may not be the preview.

Pointing at a copy is the whole mechanism you need to know, and it is enough. You do not need the path, the store, or the steps, and you should not ask a seller to teach you how to aim a submission at a message you do not hold. The buyer question is plainer. Is the preview the copy that will be submitted? If the seller cannot put both in front of you, do not approve the send. A pretty screen is not the letter.

Sellers who submit by reference still owe the creative on the order. The extension does not relax that. If your software points at a copy, show that copy, not a cousin you rendered for the meeting. If the two differ, the preview was a sales aid and the copy is the product. Invoice the product. A buyer who catches the swap after the send should find a refund line that already calls a different letter a broken order. Write that line before the pointer is used.

Does that submission prove someone opted in?

No. A message submitted by reference is not the creative you previewed. The document is RFC 4468, titled Message Submission BURL Extension. That is a fact about mail software. It is not a solo ad price, a rank, or proof that a stranger opted in.

Pointing at a copy does not prove a stranger opted in. It does not rank the sender. It does not say what the solo ad costs. A smooth submission path can carry a letter nobody asked for, to a list nobody named. The path is mail software. The audience is the list on the order. A seller who cites the extension as evidence the list is willing has changed the subject. Bring the subject back. Whose list, which sending domain, what refund line.

If you sell, the extension is not a trust mark. Say, when it is true, that the client submits by pointing at a copy, and that the buyer should read that copy. Do not say the pointer makes the send safer, ranked, or priced. Do not use the preview as a shield when the copy differs. The honest offer is the copy plus the named list. Anything thinner is a demonstration of submission, and a demonstration is not a solo ad.

What does the buyer still have to name?

A buyer still has to name the list, the sending domain, and the refund line on the order. A preview does not name them.

The preview will not say whose readers receive the letter. The pointed-at copy will not say who sends it, unless the letter itself happens to show a domain you then choose to write on the order. The refund line is still a sentence you and the seller write. If the copy and the preview differ, the refund line is what makes that difference a broken order instead of a surprise. Leave any of the three blank and the extension cannot rescue the blank.

When you compare best solo ad vendors, ask to see the copy submission will point at, not only the preview. A message submitted by reference is not the creative you previewed. RFC 4468 is not a price, a rank, or proof a stranger opted in. Name the list, the sending domain, and the refund line, and pay only for the copy those names describe.
